The bigger the smooch, the harder they peddle. Climbing mountains requires a french kiss.

In order to consciously cooperate with evolution, we need to state the goal of evolution. The goal of evolution is to select a group of organisms to be the sole stewards over a limited set of resources. For this to work, all others will need to be “de-selected.”

A good example of this is when the mother robin feeds only the large hatchlings and starves the runt. The mother robin does not “integrate the perspective” of the runt. Clearly, there’s an ugly side to this process.

This extrapolates to all kinds of nasty business; infanticide, homicide, and other forms of larger-scale genocide. It’s hard to see these downsides though, if you stay focused on being one of those that is selected.

This is exactly what makes the green meme so mean. They see the perspective of those that are de-selected and they feel the sting of being slighted. They refuse to cooperate with evolution, at least according to this formulation. They’re out of order and nothing further can be done.

I sure am glad that I'm not being menaced by the mean green meme!  In fact I can't seem to remember the last time that I was.    Undecided Hmmm.  I suppose it was while I was reading KW's Boomeritis.  Oh, and some times when chatting on the old IN forum...then the MGM menace would rear its ugly phantasm occasionally, - when invoked by true believers of one ilk or another.  But it's been quite a while since that happened it seems.  In the meantime, I suppose I've been menaced by other more interesting phantasms, such as global warming and peak oil and suchlike.  Sort of pushes the MGM's purported agenda to the background for me...

So tell me Francis, are you bothered by the MGM?

Oh BTW, I can't say that I care much for your "formulation" of the stated goal of evolution.  I agree with you that there is indeed an "ugly side" to that formulation.

I think that mean-ness is really red, not green. But green regresses to red when they get frustrated.  These emoticons here are fitting:

Green =  Handshake Red =  rant

Seems like all the SD levels could be aptly expressed as emoticons.
