I worked it out now, we are in minimum at present...a scientist said it would be a dble max one in 2010 and other in 2012, however looking at the sun it appears that the max will simply be in 2012 and so we are in minimum now.

It appears from the nasa site that this is norm, and that it must be 2012 which the max occurs, rather than a split/dble max. http://solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov/SunspotCycle.shtml
It would be interesting to see what both the solar max and passing through the ecliptic of the galaxy at the same time brings.

If a system is deterministic, then destiny is determined by initial conditions, although it doesn't imply that it'll be easy to map it out in advance. I've always been a closet determinist. I should say rather that I was encouraged to abandon my determinist bent when I studied science in acedemia. Now it's just another creed in abeyance. Everything that dies someday comes back.
