Anyone given any thought to the Akashic Field thing?
Notice the word...Aka as in Aka thread...as in the Kin of Ata are Waiting for You...the nonlocal/transtemporal communication between humans, lifeforms and atomic particles.

I thought if I start a thread on it, I might get somewhere.
I tend to think there is not a "storehouse" of truth so much...
It is not as though the universe is a brain with a memory, but that by raising ones consciousness and penetrating the veils of removal and sleep we simply wake up to that which IS. And with the higher transtemporal levels of consciousness it is "as though we tap into the brain of the universe (Akashic Field). I think that rather than extra-ordinary that this is simply "sanity" and that our unenlightened condition represents various levels of insanity. Various levels of removal and logos and that enlightenment and sanity represents holos (holos taken from Ervin Laszlo’s Science and the Akashic Field). Holos as such would be the clear perception of truth beyond the veils of separation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3pHZqDb9CU&feature=related  —Stephan Schwartz on nonlocal consciousness and remote viewing/gnosis/eureka

“The akashic records (akasha is a Sanskrit word meaning "sky", "space" or "aether") is a term used in theosophy to describe a compendium of mystical knowledge encoded in a non-physical plane of existence. These records are described to contain all knowledge of human experience and the history of the cosmos.” Wikipedia

Anyone given any thought to the Akashic Field thing? Some indicate the akashic records are similar to a Cosmic or collective consciousness. The Akashic Record is a storage in consciousness that is said to be everywhere present.

“Remote viewing” is perception of the interconnectedness of all through opening to the infinite…by tuning to the right frequency for unitive perception. Whether it be remote viewing of the future (precognition) or remote viewing of the past (remembering others lives) or scientific discovery or spiritual realization (samadhi). Synchronicity and telepathy between people significant to us is also remote sensing—or direct perception of the fundamental ground of consciousness.

The unconscious in these systems of so called practical psychology, metaphysics, and auto-suggestion, is considered a slumbering giant. These systems hold that it is a veritable storehouse of power and energy. It controls every function of the body every moment of every day, nor does it sleep or tire. The heart beats seventytwo times per minute, and every three or four seconds our lungs will breathe in oxygen and exhale carbonic acid and other waste products. The intricate and complex process of digestion and assimilation of food which becomes part and parcel of our very being, the circulation of blood, the growth, development and multiplication of cells, the organic resistance to infection--all these processes are conceived of as immediately under the control of this portion of our minds of which we are not normally aware--the Unconscious.
This is only one theoretical approach to the Unconscious. There are other definitions of its nature and function which altogether preclude the practical possibility of resorting to suggestion or auto-suggestion for coping with our ills. For example, there is the definition provided by Jung with which in many ways I am in sympathy, and it might be worlh our while to quote it at some length.
He wrote in Modern Man in Search of a Soul that "man's unconscious likewise contains all the patterns of life and behaviour inherited from his ancestors, so that every human child, prior to consciousness, is possessed of a potential system of adapting psychic functioning . . . While consciousness is intensive and concentrated, it is transient and is directed upon the immediate present and the immediate field of attention; moreover, it has access only to material that represents one indivdual's experience stretching over a few decades.... But matters stand very differently with the unconscious. It is not concentrated and intensive, but shades off into obscurity, it is highly extensive and can juxtapose the most heterogeneous elements in the most paradoxical way. More than this, it contains, besides an indeterminable number of subliminal percepions, an immense fund of accumulated inheritance-factors left by one generation of men after another, whose mere existence marks a step in the differentiation of the species. If it were permissible to personify the unconscious, we might call it a collective human being combining the characteristics of both sexes, transcending youth and age, birth and death, and, from having at his command a human experience of one or two million years, almost immortal. If such a being existed, he would be exalted above all temporal change; the present would mean neither more nor less to him than any year in the one hundredth century before Christ; he would be a dreamer of age-old dreams and, owing to his immeasurable experience, he would be an incomparable prognosticator. He would have lived countless times over the life of the individual, of the family, tribe and people, and he would possess the living sense of the rhythm of growth, flowering and decay."
Granted this kind of definition, the whole idea of suggesting ideas to this "dreamer of age-old dreams" sounds utterly presumptuous. Only a simpleton, living a superficial intellectual and spiritual life, would have the audacity to dare give this "being" suggestions relative to business, marriage, or health. Such a concept then immediately rules out the use of suggestion, demanding more sophisticated approaches.
For the time being, and only for the purpose of this disscussion, let us grant validity to the first concept of the unconscious as being a titan who will respond to suggestions if the latter can be gotten through to him. The theory goes, therefore, that if, in the face of some bodily ill or disfunction, we could literally tell the Unconscious what we want done, these results could occur in answer to our concentrated wish. Theoretically, the theory sounds all right. Unfortunately, for one thing, it does not take into consideration the fact that early in life an impenetrable barrier is erected within the psyche itself. A barrier of inhibition is built up between the unconscious and the conscious thinking self--a barrier of prejudices, false moral concepts, infantile notions, pride and egotism. So profound is this armoured barrier that our best attempts to get past it, around it, or through it are utterly impotent. We become cut off from our roots, and have no power, no ability, to contact the deeper, the instinctual, the more potent side of our natures.~ I. Regardie

"...the Astral Light and the concept of the Collective Unconscious there is a clear correspondence. Just as the Unconscious with some individuals is a subterranean volcanic entity tearing asunder the integrity and unity of the consciousness, so also the magical tradition is that it is to the lower aspect of the Astral Light, the storehouse of race-memories, predatory lusts, instincts and all animal impulses, that a greater part of mankind owes its troubles, ills, and regrettable sources of conflict. It is upon this part of the hJe$Jzeschor the Unconscious that the Magician, avers Levi, must set his foot, that it must be conquered, controlled, and kept in its proper place. At the same time, however, the so-called Unconscious with its wealth of animated material, its fertility of impressive ideas and suggestions may be for some people the source of poetic and artistic inspiration. This aspect of the Unconscious, the higher or divine aspect of the Astral Light, or the Neschamah in man, it is which the Magician seeks to cultivate and expand, since with its growth, development and facility of expression pro- ceeds also his own individual integrity and the ability to surpass himself.
Within this Astral Light which individually we carry with us at all times and in all places, we live and move and have our being. Every thought that we think stamps an indelible impress on the impressionable substance of that plane-in fact tradition has it that it coalesces with one of the creatures of that plane and then passes away from our immediate control into this pulsating ocean of vitality and feeling to influence other minds for good or for ill. Every living thing breathes and intakes this Light freely, and to none is it exclusive or private. Indeed in it we live very much as a fish lives in water, surrounded on all sides and in every direction ; and like a fish we constantly breathe it in and out through astral gills, as it were, taking energy therefrom and adding a variety of impressions thereto with the passing of each moment. Not only is this magical agent the Imagination of Nature, but it also fills the role of the Memory of Nature, for each act that we perform, each thought that enters our brain, each emotion as it leaves the heart, registers itself on the astral matter, remaining there for all time as an eternal record so that those who are able to may see and read. On this topic Eliphas Levi has significantly remarked that "The Book of Consciences which, according to the Christian doctrine, will be opened on the Last Day, is nothing more than the Astral Light in which are preserved the impressions of every Logos, that is every action and every form. There are no solitary acts and there are no secret acts ~ I. Regardie

To sum up: nothing is lost, everything can be recovered. We can always re-animate the latent form that resides in the akashic field. Just add energy and stir. Or we can lay down new forms. Perhaps this is why the second law of thermodynamics indicates that energy is partially degraded and lost in exchanges. The akashic field is taxing every energy transaction, taking a piece of each for its 'files'

Everything dies baby, that's a fact. But maybe everything that dies, someday comes back.

 Cry
You are sounding new age. I don't think everything can be recovered. It is a matter of consciousness, heart and will as to whether our human world and everything we touch is evolving or devolving. Right now we are passing through a period of unveiling, cleansing and judgment. How well we are tuned to the Will for Life without shame, blame or exclusion is how well we are going to weather this evolutionary challenge.
If matter and form is the result of a priori spirit and energy, then we can conclude that the Akashic Field is that nonlocal field of consciousness prior to manifestation. To impart our Will for Life we must align with the perfect Platonic protoform prior to actuality...and resonate in the quality we wish to Real-ize.

I think that the akashic record is well described above.

I don't think this is how it is except in a metaphorical sense...I don't think there is this impressionable substance like wax that receives the imprint of our thoughts...
This is a "New Thought" idea.
I can't think of a better alternative, but I don't like this one.

Morphogenic fields are organizing templates that weave through time and space and hold the patterns for all structures, but which can be altered according to our changing thoughts and patterns. ie: through the power of intention. Our brains serve as gates into the quantum hologram of pure beingness which is God...the organizing principle of the consciousness emerges from quantum processes in the brain. Focused attention calls forth information -  material (local) and non-material (nonlocal). There is a great description of Evan Harris Walker's theory of quantum processes in consciousness in "The Spiritual Technology of Ancient Egypt," by Edward Malkowski.

But my question is...is philosophy dead, I mean isn't it merely going round in circles...and if you can't eat it, what good is it? nope
