Henry,
That is beautiful country where you are living.

In this image, (if it works...but it didn't work...what the hell??? Can you only post images here that have a web address?) from my sister's home you can see Mule Butte, mid-distance, at the far right of the photo of the Wind River Range in a blizzard. My folk's ranch lay just below it. When my father died just short of his 83rd birthday and almost with his boot on, my mother sold it all back to the Northern Arapaho Tribe from whom it had been kinda swindled 100 years before. They wanted it for its water rights and she got six times what he and she had paid 17 years before...so many options. We did a drive-by two years ago. The place is all gone to Canadian thistles and the buildings are down to the ground but the tribe has its water rights and I wrote a book 30 years ago that held such was only justice.

So many options.

I knew a guy in Santa Fe who once worked with me on reclaiming tribal lands, and he had made a fortune turning agricultural land around Yakima, WA, into residential properties and then he invested the entire bundle into Winchester Model 70 rifles because as the hysteria for gun control rose higher and higher, their price could only rise and he knew he could liquidate his entire holdings within 24 hours--a margin that nothing but firearms and drugs can provide...and firearms are legal. God, I love the USA!

So many options. You could subdivide into housing tracts, call it "Henry's High Mountain Estates" make a fortune, invest in rifles, walk away and never look back.

What would Stewart Brand do?

i don't have the cahonas for sub-division or gun trafficking, although it would be therapeutic for me....The obvious solution is asheville nc., the Boulder of the east. It is a green city, so stewart brand would approve. Very new agey, i would fit right in Cool. Also the home of Andie McDowell, who may still be single and feel sorry for me Kiss.
