I Woke Up this Morning...

Alarm rang at 5 AM. Shaved, brushed my teeth, combed my hair and in the car driving to work at 5:30 AM. I get on the commute bus (the hospital is building a new deck, we have to use shuttles to get in) and find two voice messages from my supervisor on my cell. The messages were from the day before and I had not checked them thinking since I was home and off that day anything important would have gone through my land line. The message said "Call me ASAP" in a sober tone of voice.

I called a fellow colleague of mine (got her out of bed at 6 AM...oops, I thought she was at work [night shift gal]) and she said the electronic medical record implementation program was axed...the hospital pulled the plug, just like that. So I got off the shuttle before it left for the hospital and drove myself down to the hospital in case there was anything else I needed to do or to be debriefed on. Our command center was abandoned. I called my supervisor and luckily he was at headquarters at 7:30 AM and officially confirmed that the plug had been pulled, there is no work today...in fact, you're out of work.

So I sit here as I write in the library of this hospital. I've got my keys ready to get in my car to drive home. One minute a superstar, the next, nobody.   Beats me

Onto life's next adventure.

Logging off...out of here.  Handshake

wow, that's quite a blow.  did they give you a reason or just give you the ol' coporate handshake?  i'm sure with your qualifications you'll be able to find something, but it's no wonder why employees no longer trust the people they work for anymore. they expect and require a 2 weeks notice if you leave and have to no problem dropping someone or a division out of the blue if they see fit.  let it sink in.. then move on... one door opens..... Beats me

What wonderful news, Dan! Of course I do realize that it might not seem like that at the moment, but....

Love ya brother.

I was expecting a line about how you got yourself a beer....the thread title reminded me of lonesome George
