In exploring the various meanings of the word enlightenment we can run with the idea that enlightenment refers to the alchemy itself and the extra photons that power through nerves, tubules and proteins; changing the cells and altering the body?s spacetime orientation and quantum nature. Enlightenment is the light of Grace restructuring the lower brains and reducing the impact of darker aspects of our animal nature; while turning on new latent circuits in the brain.
?Enlightenment only involves the certainty and realization that all boundaries are artificial expedients of the mind. You feel 'lighter' because boundaries are restrictive in all cases. There are no natural boundaries; all distinctions are constructs of mind, like the equator. Other than self-realization, all other knowledge, is gained by assuming (postulating) arbitrary boundaries and proceeding as if they were 'real.' Enlightened wisdom involves holding these two contradictory ideas in dynamic balance.? John Van Bortel
No one can be ultimately enlightened, only progressively and even then one only loses ones ignorance by degrees. Since the potential for de-ignorance is infinite, when you expand this just makes you slightly less ignorant than you were before, and since enlightenment also brings with it the awareness of ones unlimited infinite ignorance...this means that the mark of a person in the process of slowly becoming enlightened is compassionate humility and awe; plus acknowledgement of the bottomless well of ignorance. To acknowledge that ignorance is as infinite as enlightenment is to see that there is an infinitude of potential to be enlightened from our ignorance. To accept or respect the Unknown as the black-body matrix to the Universe and existence itself is to retain a sense of the Mystery and infinite potential as well.
I see the tendency toward blinkered vision as a form of superstition from not fully grokking the infinite extent of the Unknown...thus like scared children we are intimidated by the paradigm of punishment/reward into needing to appear to know everything. The fearful need to know sets up a magnetic field of parochialism...ie: a parochial character, spirit, or tendency; excessive narrowness of interests or view; provincialism. This defensive rationality is thus truncated and divorced from the soul?s senses and Gnostic knowing.
Because we still live in a culture that is rooted in the duality of good and evil, this limbic-medieval and mythically inspired culture exacerbates the ego's need for control. Thus the ego?s need to be ?right? makes us hold on excessively tightly to our limited facts and thereby reduces intuition, for intuition is a ?receptive? capacity, an ?art? if you will. This blind and truncated rationality is what Tart calls the ?consensus trance? or what Wilber calls Flatland. At the biochemical level of brain function the stigma of punishment/reward (fear) means that there is a short circuit in the ability for us to develop our intuitive potential into full-rationality and beyond to the transrational. Full-brain consciousness is thus diminished by the left-linguistic brains overwhelming usurpation of our known reality. Leaving creativity to those few that natively or developmentally can break through this imbalanced use of our faculties?to full-spectrum human consciousness.
Heru said there must be three domains for a truly integral approach:
*Absolute (enlightenment)
*Relative (developmental)
*Creative (evolutionary)
Buckminster Fuller argues if we understand ?creativity,? that is synergy and intuition, we would maximize our knowledge at every turn, with the natural and logical consequence being benefit for all of humanity. Creativity or the bridge between the Absolute and the Relative domains is where we need to focus on as a species to overcome our Global-sized problems and build a ?solutions? civilization that is not simply responding to ongoing crisis.
The Creative (evolutionary) is the quantum jump of grace, and then Relative (development) is the substantiation needed to hold, manifest and grow that creativity. The Relative (developmental) domain preserves the seeds of creativity, protecting, nurturing and allowing them to grow. Since the Creative (evolutionary) domain is that which is most missing from our present human culture, I think we should collectively focus on generating the truly creative and synergistic. I think we are still scared of the creative in the same way we are truly scared of genuine spirit for both constitute the unknown. As a problem focused culture we are still scared of love and success.
In order to grow and evolve beyond the weight of the collective status quo we must work on parenting ourself, self authoring, sovereignty, sense of boundaries and claiming our innate genius. When we ourselves turn within to build worthiness, gratitude, trust, faith, reverence and equanimity in our cells, we can then hold our own ground to stop being overly being affected by others and thinking that you are affecting others. It is when we establish this transcultural cosmic ground that we can begin to substantiate, nurture and grow in the Relative domain the seeds of Spiritual genius that emerge through us.
In bringing humanity to full-spectrum consciousness and integration of the three domains, what we are really talking about here is a balance between the active-linguistic and the receptive-intuitive sides of the brain, ie: reconciliation of the sexes, poles, hemispheres.
?I am not merely determined by my felt karma; I can also, to a degree, transcend the past via my own creativity: in this way only is some degree of freedom possible. There is not only the inheritance of the past, there is, in each moment, a spark of novelty, of newness, of something that never came before.? KW
http://wilber.shambhala.com/html/books/kosmos/excerptA/part1.cfmEckhart Tolle in The Power of Now says that when we have stabilized a certain degree of the depth of Presence we no longer need negativity to tell us what is needed in our life situation. Tolle points out that as long as we are identified with the mind our sense of self is externally derived and therefore vulnerable. ?This false, mind-made self, the ego, feels vulnerable, insecure, and is always seeking new things to identify with to give it a feeling that it exists.? 150, Power of Now
?Until man knows himself as Spirit?the fountainhead of Bliss?he is limited by mortal concepts and subject to the inexorable laws of nature. Knowledge of his true being brings him eternal freedom.? Yogananda
Ester and Jerry Hicks say that it is the vibrational alignment between allowing or resisting your Source (Presence) that determines the emotional quality of your personal experience. Allowing is vibrational alignment with your Source, while disharmony is caused by resistance to thriving, wellness, divinity, abundance and well-being. With the witnessing ability of Presence we can watch our thought and emotion and thereby direct ourself toward allowing and away from resistance.
Unenlightenment is the unconscious belief in original sin, of a never enough self and world, ie: deprivation consciousness and the resistance of Presence and the alignment with Source.
Enlightenment is the conscious belief in original blessing and a more than enough self and world, ie: abundance consciousness and the allowing of Presence and the alignment with Source.
Creativity represents an evolutionary jump from unenlightened Resistance to enlightened Allowing through the witnessing power of Presence. Presence is accepting of what is and so moves out into existence, while Resistance is repelled by what is and so diminishes the harmony and intuition of Presence. The dissonance of Resistance creates a removal from the intuitive gestalt (grokking) of Reality, dropping one into the fractured existence of the partiality and products of ?mind.?
?Intuition comes from within; thought from without. Intuition gives a face-to-face view of Reality; thought gives an indirect view of it. Intuition by a strange sympathy, sees Reality in its totality, while thought chops it up into parts.? 82 Yogananda, The Science of Religion
When we look at another we see the interplay of this Presence/Resistance dichotomy. Spiritual relationship must represent the evolutionary force of Eros (creativity) necessary to jointly magnify the Presence side of things while diminishing the level of Resistance. This they call ?Love.?
