Is this ethical? Theses things are supposedly public records available to all. In the past you had to go to the local courthouse in the locality you were inquiring about. Now these "localities" are globally accessable.

I've got nothing to hide!

i checked out the homepage and found that it's not affilitated with any govt agency, which i thought it would and would be bad enough, but since it's in "private" hands that makes it a little more frightening.  i doubt that i'll sign up for it, just trying to stay out of the system as much as possible.  i've never been fingerprinted and have always done a good job of staying under the radar  whilst being in the midst.  i've even googled my given name and found nothing, although it something could be buried in there since i have a fairly common name. i have googled jimtzu and found quite a bit of my online life and to my surprise there's one other jimtzu out there.
i believe the supreme court has already decided that privacy is not a right since it's not explicitly mentioned in the constituion, so there's not a whole lot we can do.

 Probably why Grace Slick (of Jefferson Airplane fame) stated that she did not want her daughter to have a Social Security number. It's anything but "Secure". So is it possible to function without a SS # or DL# ? Without a Bank Account #?

 Second problem. In the past these public records were available to any U.S. Citizen who could dig them up. Now, Anyone in the world from Australia to Turkey can find out about you! Our butts are an open book to the world. Is the same true for other countries? Probably the answer is no. My friend , our ass has been sold down the road, anything to make a bigger buck. What's next?
